Over the spring/beginning of summer period, the children developed an interest in caring for the environment. The tamariki were engaged in a variety of activities - including planting florals as well as our very own centre vegetable garden.

Each day our tamariki took turns at caring for our plants, carefully watering them and being mindful of where they were putting their feet. The tamariki started to notice that our plants were beginning to get visitors - and this is where our focus expanded and the tamariki became interested in all things BEE's!

To expand on this interest, one of our amazing kaiako at BestStart Silverstream brought along some very special resources.

The tamariki were able to see and learn about how honey is produced - as well as trying on a special costume that real beekeepers wear... and having a little taste of some delicious honey!
