At BestStart Waihi East our Nursery has a strong focus on tuakana teina: a Maori concept which promotes for the older children to help the younger. As there are some very small babies in Nursery at the moment, it is a great opportunity for the older children to learn to help and teach those younger ones. Kaiako encourage this concept daily, and we have seen lovely kind results. This also links into our vision which has a strong focus on partnership and looking after each other.
