Belonging at Te Heuheu

1

Here at Te Heuheu Street Kindy children learn through activities such as communication, listening, teamwork, and compromising. Children also develop a strong sense of belonging when they have opportunities to build strong relationships with people, places, and things.

Here we love to celebrate and at Te Heuheu Street Kindy we value and know celebrations can give children the chance to learn about practises that are different from their own, while developing respect for diverse values and beliefs if they are included in a sensitive and respectful way. As teachers we think it is important to learn about each family's cultural values to help children feel welcomed and valued. A sense of place is linked to a sense of belonging, which contributes to our children's social and emotional development. The continual education, learning, and growth of your children are all strengthened by participation in ECE. By engaging in ECE, children build on the abilities they already have from their families and whanau and acquire a tonne of new ones.

There is no doubt that our early experiences impact how we view the world, other people, and ourselves as adults. Consequently, as capable and assured communicators and learners, people who are secure in their sense of identity and are healthy in mind, body, and spirit are created.
