BestStart Dannemora's Matariki Celebration: A Week of Learning and Togetherness!
BestStart Dannemora's Matariki celebration proved to be a success, fostering cultural enrichment and community engagement. Matariki, which is the Māori New Year, holds a special place in our hearts and we were thrilled to share its cultural significance with the children.
The festival was a delightful blend of learning, creativity, and togetherness which was made possible through stories, art and craft activities, cooking traditional Maori bread, and waiata (songs). The week-long celebration concluded on a high note with a delightful feast with our whanau which followed the captivating performances by our talented children. The festivities throughout the week had been building up to this grand moment, and it exceeded all expectations.
The room was filled with admiration and applause as our tamariki confidently demonstrated their skills. We are grateful for the support of our daycare community and the families who joined us in celebrating Matariki. We firmly believe that experiences like these foster a sense of belonging and appreciation for the rich heritage of Aotearoa.
We look forward to more such enriching celebrations in the future, as we continue to nurture and educate our tamariki with love and dedication.
