Developing oral language is important part of growing up and at BestStart East Tamaki we use different strategies to support it in our tamariki. 

This week we celebrated Book Week where children brought their favourite book from home and shared it with their friends and teachers. We also got one of our preschool parents to read books to our children during mat time. 

As research demonstrates, reading and storytelling with babies and children promotes brain development and imagination, develops language and emotions, and strengthens relationships.
