BestStart Huntsbury's Trip to Hansens Park

1

We have been getting out into our local community regulary. This week, our 4 year old tamariki walked to our local Hansens Park. While we were there, we went searching for sticks of all shapes and sizes so we could make stickmen when we returned to our learning space. Our current learning focus is on stories and we thought a trip to the park to collect our own sticks, was a great way to bring the "Stickman" story to life. The tamariki enjoyed being involved in collecting the 'perfect' sticks to create their very own stickman back in the classroom. While we were at the park, we spent some down time eating our kai reka. After a healthy drink of water, we had a lovely play on the playground equipment. At preschool, we have also been playing lots of games with rules so we were excited to be able to make use of the basketball court to play games such as 'follow the leader', 'octopus' and 'rats and raisons'. It was fun to experience playing these games on a court which was quite different to our familiar preschool playground environment. On the walk back, we had fun pointing out the ducks in the river.
