BestStart Katikati have a Gold Healthy Heart Award!
BestStart Katikati has been working hard over the past year to achieve the Healthy Heart award and proudly achieved the “Pa Harakeke – Flourishing; Gold Award”. The healthy heart award recognizes centres for the amazing things that they do to promote healthy food and physical activity. The kaiako at BestStart Katikati are supporting our tamariki to develop healthy habits and healthy hearts.
Throughout our journey at BestStart Katikati our tamariki, kaiako and whanau have been educated around kai/food that reduce choking in our young tamariki, how to keep our tamariki bodies healthy through learning about types of active play for each age group in the centre.
BestStart Katikati has developed a nutritious and healthy menu for our tamariki to enjoy for their morning and afternoon teas, which has in turn supported our whanau with nutritious ideas for creating their tamariki lunches at the centre.
