Creative Hands in the Nursery. In the nursery we just love messy play and all the learning that comes with it. We enjoy nothing more than making a splash, exploring texture and having fun. collage is one of our favourite creative play experiences that we offer. Our tamariki are always exploring different ways of engaging and interacting with art materials.
Sticking and pasting is a great experience for texture and fine motor skills. During this experience we are also building our relationships as we explore alongside others. Our older tamariki have the opportunity to role model play to our younger friends too. Messy play is exciting and engaging for our pepi; but what we love most about one of our fantastic 16 areas of play is the learning that comes alongside it.
This play supports language development as we talk about what is happening around us and within play. We develop our motor skills and hand-eye coordination as we pour, pinch, grab and stick. Messy play is also fantastic for encouraging and supporting social interaction as we take turns and communicate verbally and non-verbally about the excitement within our play. W
