Cancer affects so many families and whānau, and our centre is no exception.  This year, we chose to fundraise for the Cancer Society Daffodil Day on 28th August and the Child Cancer ‘Wig Wednesday’ on 9th September.

On the 28th, we invited our tamariki to wear yellow and they helped decorate our classroom with balloons, streamers and bunting.  At the end of the day, the children were able to take a balloon and daffodil flower home with them for a small donation.

On the 9th September, as well as wearing a wig or having crazy, wacky hairstyles, we tried something a little different.  As a fundraiser, families and whanau were invited to vote for their ‘favourite’ teacher to get slimed, with Brigitte and Tracey gaining the most votes.  ($1 per vote).

Both Brigitte and Tracey were great sports and submitted to a sliming from Joy and a couple of the older children.  We still don’t know who had the most fun – kaiako or tamariki!
