On the 25th of March 2020 we closed our doors and prepared for the nation wide lockdown. New Zealand had been told to stay home to save lives and that’s exactly what we did.

The kaiako at Peachgrove farewelled our tamariki and started preparing for how we could support their learning from home. We wanted to continue to nurture our relationships that we have built so strongly, nurture our whānau through reaching out to offer support and ideas for while they were at home and step out of our comfort zones for our tamariki to show them how much we care and miss them.

We had mat times, music and dance activities, supermarkets at home, ice activities and our whānau joined in on video calls once a week.

Our time spent at home during the rahui was full of so many amazing experience and utilising Storypark and Zoom video calls was an awesome way for us to make this all happen.

When we open at level three and level two we are confident that the connections we have continued to nurture will support our tamariki and whānau to feel welcomed back into our centre and their sense of belonging is intact.

Our vision here at Peachgrove is “Nurture the seed and it will Grow”  even in a lockdown we were able to stay true to our vision and philosophy and nurture not only our tamariki but their whānau too.
