Bike day at BestStart Ascot
Due to popular demand, we had a bike day at BestStart Ascot.
It was a day for them to bring in their bikes and vehicles, and we will make use of all the space in our playground for some friendly racing with our peers. The children really enjoyed bringing their bikes and scooters and showing everyone. Some were also kind to share their bikes, testing one another's skills as well!
Experiences like these help children connect items from home and from the centre. It also supports the idea of sharing and of connecting the two worlds in their mind. It is, of course, also another opportunity for show and tell. Bringing an item from home opens up conversations and supporting friendship as they tell each other stories of the items. It also supports their communication and problem-solving skills as they navigate between similar items and recall past experiences together.
Regardless, it was such a fun and amazing experience. We loved seeing the care and hospitability the children are showing each other, and we are so happy to hear all the wonderful stories of their bikes and experiences at home!
