Bike Day Bike Skills
At BestStart Waikite Valley Kindy we are very fortunate to have an amazing outdoor environment, with wide open spaces, real grass, and mature trees. We also have the benefit of being next to the local primary school, which gives us another large area to explore and that is just what we did on a recent adventure away from kindy.
During the school holidays we had a Bike Day at kindy. This is always very popular with the children and the teachers alike. We were able to venture over onto the school grounds and make the most of their big fields, bike pump track and courts to practice our skills on our bikes.
This day provided amazing learning opportunities for all of our tamariki. They were able to practice their balance and coordination, perseverance and determination, learn about bike safety and the importance of wearing a helmet to protect our brains and gave them the opportunity to explore their local environment. It was a wonderful day had by all.
