Blessing of BestStart Botany Junction
As sunrise pierced the dark on this still morning, 01/04/19, a karakia rang out to greet the rising sun, it was the blessing of the new BestStart Botany Junction centre. We stood in respectful silence as the kaumatua and Kuia called out to the ancestors of this land, the walls and every room and corner, the outdoors were blessed. Underpinned in the values of Tikanga Maori, the kaumatua and the Kuia were needed for guidance. The significance of the blessing of Botany Junction gave all of us who were there a reason to attend this important ceremony and be part of it. The dawn blessing was powerful, spiritual and heartwarming. BestStart Botany Junction was officially opened on 1st of April 2019 and has been booming since.
