During the school holidays we held a box creation day across the centre.  In the Pepi room with our youngest learners we gave the tamariki the opportunity to hold the glue sticks and they learnt to put the glue on the boxes. The children were very curious in observing the adults and attempted to try it out themselves. We had a group of friends gathering around once the boxes were stacked up high like a tower! We discovered the different shapes and sizes of the boxes and then the cylinder shape tube sparked our ideas. Considering our tamariki liked throwing balls (and a bit of sharing ideas from Pinterest of course!), kaiako helped cut two big holes on a box and put the cylinder through the holes. The tamariki loved trying to drop the balls into the cylinder and looking for where their balls went. Kaiako Dolly shared her idea of having a tray underneath the cylinder for catching the balls, which finished off our creation nicely as tamariki were able to see a group of balls being caught after their busy posting from the other end!  We love exploring our posting box!
