What happened:

Today we made finger prints on our paper. We each had a fish drawn on our paper, then chose a number. The number we chose was the number of air bubbles we were going to make on our paper. We then used the number to create the same amount of seaweed at the bottom and make an ocean for our fish.

Teaching Strategies

Encouraging the children to count the bubbles and make the bubbles themselves

Providing time for the children to take their time to count

Supporting them to count for the children who weren't able to do this themselves

Letting children lead their own learning by counting and figuring what they want on their picture

Learning opportunities

Learning to count using print, sensory opportunities to feel the paint on their fingers, The opportunity to give it a go and try and count the objects. working together with others. The opportunity to see what colours form when they are mixed.
