Bubbles, colours and fun!
To extend the learning of our tamāriki, kaiako added varying objects, coloured water and a dry mixture of baking soda and citric acid; tamāriki then witnessed science reaction of bubbly foam and fizzing noises.... Bubble, bubble, bubble, POP!!
Our tamāriki here at BestStart Papakura East Kindy thoroughly enjoyed this activity, as you can see from their facial expressions and were really surprised once the water mixed with the dry ingredients and exploded out of the silverware with fizzing bubbles and an array of colours that formed when different coloured water was added to the mixture.
Experiences such as these allow our tamāriki a hands-on experiment to create their own bubbly, fizzy magic, a chance to explore, be creative and imaginative whilst discovering science and mathematical concepts such as mixing, pouring, how substances react, problem-solving, hand-eye coordination, developing working theories, in addition, creating a platform for positive interactions with peers and kaiako and ways to extend vocabulary through conversation. Allowing our tamāriki to have fun by being active explorers and learners.
