Busy in Tiki
We had a busy week last week in the Tiki room at BestStart Rugby Park! We had a bus created in the Tiki room where tamariki (children) drove to McDonalds to treat us all to ice creams and chips while singing "Wheels on the bus". Tamariki explored our new dinosaur resources for our blocks, creating their own dinosaur park and exploring their creativity while using the different pieces.
Tamariki continued to strengthen their creativity through exploring different art experiences. Art is a huge favourite experience with our Tiki room tamariki and we explored creating art with roller stamps, mixing different colours and creating different marks by using the stamps in different ways.
New friendships are continuing to develop and strengthen within the Tiki room as our tamariki explore and work alongside each other during their experiences. We have seen new friendships begin with our new tamariki joining the Tiki room and friendships continue to grow which started in the Fern room.
This week tamariki have explored outside and challenged their bodies while taking risks on challenge course that kaiako have set up with the help of tamariki. Tamariki have been contributing their ideas by suggesting what equipment to use, where it should be placed and how they could use it during the course.
Inside tamariki have explored different art experiences: one painting with our animals, using their feet to create their art work, and another using foam rollers, making different marks by using the roller in different ways.
Our teaching student Lesharna made cornflour gloop with the help of our tamariki. They loved exploring the different textures and mixing the ingredients together using their hands.
We can not wait to continue exploring alongside our friends in the Tiki room next week!
