Butter the Bunny!

Kia Ora, I’m Butter. Pipiwai Kindys favorite (and only) rabbit. The team at BestStart Pipiwai Kindy was looking for a new blogger, so I put my paw up! Welcome to Butters Blog.

This February I have spied some changes around here. I have noticed some new Kaiako have been moving my cage, welcome Alina and Monique! Not only have they been feeding me good kai but they have also been enjoying forming fantastic relationships with our tamariki and whanau. Ka Pai! I have seen lots of new seedlings being planted by both the tamariki and kaiako, this warm weather with a little bit of rain we have been having will ensure that they grow quicker than my winter coat! A quick shoutout to my neighbours Luca, Cruella, Lavender Rose and Nugget (the chickens) that have been laying lots of eggs for our tamariki to take home to share with their whanau. I love seeing the tamariki carefully carry each egg inside and I often get a laugh while watching them chase the chickens back into their coop after they escape.

Currently I can see lots of bits and pieces lying around that our tamariki have been playing with. I asked Andrea about this last week and she reminded me that our tamariki are loving exploring our “Loose Parts” project. This is super neat as I have really seen lots of creativity coming through as they create things such as robots, make games and even transport the loose parts around while developing their fine/gross motor skills and cognitive skills. Some of the boys had even created a construction site in the sandpit with the parts recently which was super cool! Im feeling a bit sad to hear that this project is starting to change but im sure there will still be lots of loose parts play alongside their new focus, Our Natural World. I pointed out to Beral recently I have observed lots of tamariki bug hunting, egg collecting, gardening and of course hanging out with ME. So I’m looking forward to seeing what we can learn through this. We were lucky enough to have Mr Library Bus man come and visit us the other day and I saw him carrying in lots of books about the world we live in. Hopefully they come out and share a story or two with me,

Now for the biggest news... I’ve had to say ‘see you later’ to a few of my tamariki friends as they have graduated and headed off to school. I was lucky enough to be able to watch some of the happy last day celebrations as we had them outside in this beautiful weather by my cage. Thanks for all the tasty carrots guys! Good luck on the next part of your journeys, I know you are all ready and will have lots of fun. Please don’t forget to come and visit as the team will miss you all. There is some exciting news to make up for the sad though... there appears to be lots more tamariki closer to my height running around. A massive welcome to all of our new two year olds, I look forward to watching you grow here at BestStart Pipiwai Kindy and I’m sure you will have lots of fun!

Ka kite anō!
