Butterfly lady!

Our big kids got lucky last week when we had a visit from the Butterfly lady. Maria contacted us to see if we would be interested to learn more about the monarch butterfly... We jumped at the chance!

Maria showed the children the life cycle of the butterfly from egg, caterpillar, chrysalis to butterfly. The children got to dress up as butterflies with wings and masks and we were given two swan plants and 2 caterpillars to look after and observe. The Senior kids asked lots of questions and enjoyed listening to someone who was extremely passionate about the Monarch butterfly. Straight after the visit our senior tamariki wanted to transform into butterflies them selves so we got out the dress ups and the face paint!
