Waving bye-bye to 2021, we have had a busy January to welcome 2022 at the Home of the Brave. First of all, we reset up our carpentry area with some new resources as new space for our brave little explorers. We are excited to see the new adventures they have. We also had a fun filled carnival week with fun themes each day; such as wheels day, sports in the playground and a teddy bear picnic. Our tamariki have enjoyed sack racing, bubble blowing, chalk art, and ring tossing on the crazy carnival day. Summer fun in the sun, we have had fun enjoying water play during the summertime!

Our most exciting adventure for our curious explorers though . . .  we got our new playground! With help of some wonderful parents, we have created a new, fun, and attractive play space for our tamariki to explore. With the new addition, and the many ways we can set it up, we are super excited to see how our tamariki explore and engage with the new space.

Carpentry play allows tamariki to learn to design and build things while developing a wide range of physical, thinking and problem-solving skills. It also inspires the imagination and creative flare of our tamariki. The learning taking place often relates to math, science, technology and sculptural art. In terms of Theme Day activities, they helped our tamariki develop their gross motor skills and body coordination and enhanced peer relationships. For the intentionally designed carnival day, it strengthened the relationship between our whanau and our kindy. Our tamariki also learned teamwork and social competence, such as sharing and playing by taking turns through various activities on that day. Our new playground has offered our tamariki opportunities to embrace new challenges, take risks and cope with changes.   Come in to BestStart Powells Rd Kindy for a play, and experience the adventures that are had by our home of the brave explorers.
