Camping Fun
The children at ABC Mayfield love to experience imaginative play and activities. The children helped to put up a tent we found and held the tent poles while we built it. One child picked up that the teachers were building it wrong and helped us to fix the problem. Once the tent was up, a child mentioned how the tent looked like the one that they used when they went camping with their family. They also mentioned that they had a campfire when they went camping and suggested we make one. Together the children went off and found sticks and stones to make a campfire that sat out in front of the tent. After a while sitting inside the tent, one child said they wanted to sit around the campfire and found a small foam square to sit on and mentioned how it could be a seat. The children helped each other to find a seat each to sit around the fire. I encouraged the children to share stories and songs around the campfire. Through this experience children learnt to take turns sharing their ideas and how to respect others interests and belongings.
