Carpentry and construction
There has been great excitement as the new Countdown construction has been started nearby. We have been going for regular walks to watch the progress of the construction with houses being demolished and getting ready to be trucked away.
This interest in construction has been seen carried on in children's play in the carpentry area where groups of children have been making road signs for sandpit play and other constructions with the hammers and saw.
As children engage in this play, they are learning how to use tools safely, developing strength and control of their bodies and hand-eye coordination. Children are also developing creativity and imagination as they create and build their constructions and use them in their play.
Carpentry is one of the 16 areas of play in our centre.
