Kia ora whānau,

On the week of the 4th of July, we took part in celebrating culture and heritage within our Matai community. On the Tuesday it was America’s Independence Day. We celebrated culture by acknowledging Levi’s whānau and Levi’s American background and made Tuesday a day of fun experiences and activities.

For morning kai we had red, blue, and white scones and for afternoon kai we had star-shaped sandwiches. Firework painting proved to be quite popular and tamariki came dressed in red, white, and blue outfits. Tamariki loved throwing confetti up into the air and watching it float down across their faces. Chatting with whānau and other kaiako, it was said that Tuesday had felt like a carnival or fair of some sort.

Thank you Courtney for your hard mahi and organising this special day!
