One of our teachers at BestStart Katikati has just completed her teaching qualification, this is a huge achievement, working, motherhood, raising a family, and completing tertiary study.

The teaching team at BestStart Katikati decided to honour her outstanding achievement by holding a graduation ceremony and disco where her family and our centre whanau and tamariki could come along and celebrate the occasion with her.  We were very honoured to have the BestStart Founders Wayne and Chloe Wright attend her ceremony and to give her, her degree.

Sarah has been studying through correspondence and working at the centre over the past 3 years and over this time Sarah has had the pleasure of teaching and been a part of so many of our children’s lives that we decided to honour the children that she has been teaching by creating a capping gown, with all their handprints on it. The hood was from another teacher. Both the hood and the gown were filled with aroha for Sarah.

This fits well with our teaching philosophy “Where We Belong” as we celebrate and promote positive relationships.  We value these relationships and believe that they build important foundations for learning and development.
