Celebrating Chinese Language Week

This week we have been celebrating Chinese language week. As are still in lockdown, we have been engaging with our tamariki and their families via online stories and videos.
To support our Chinese community but also to introduce the Chinese language and culture to our tamariki from different nationalities, we have been organising Chinese story times, and including some songs and stories in Chinese during different online learning events.
The languages and cultures that our children bring to our centre are very important to us and we do our best to implement them in our teaching practice. This time it has been a bit tricky, but we have been working hard on moving our stories and teaching online and supporting our children with their learning while at home.
Here is our teacher 老师 Wei who is going to teach us how to use Chinese sign language to count to 10.
