Celebrating Chinese New Year
At Flatbush School Road, we place great importance on the significance of culture, identity, and language in our children’s development.
Chinese New Year is one of our major festivals, and through activities, we connect with the Chinese community and families. We believe that supporting a sense of belonging for children, especially when they live in a foreign country, is essential to their development.
We invited children and families to celebrate Chinese New Year together. We recognise the importance of Chinese traditions and language, and we have many Chinese teachers who help integrate this cultural heritage into our curriculum. Through these traditions, we ensure that children are connected to their cultural roots, no matter where they are. These celebrations are seen as valuable learning experiences.
We promote learning, inclusion, and respect for different cultures through immersive cultural exploration. We involve families in our celebrations, strengthening the community’s sense of belonging to the culture, and stimulating cultural curiosity and exploration.
Every year, we invite our Chinese families to make decorations, make dumplings, and share Chinese New Year stories. There’s so much to explore, and we look forward to welcoming you as part of this celebration.
