Celebrating cultural events of our tamariki are very important to us and this year, we spent the two weeks exploring Chinese culture and celebrating the year of the rabbit. To prepare for our final event, the tamariki were able to get their creativity flowing, exploring different stories and symbols of the Chinese culture and bring them to life! For example, they made lanterns through cutting and gluing, as well as dragons out of egg cartons.

Arts and crafts are always a popular experience at our centre, and help to draw the tamariki to participate and as a result foster their cultural knowledge and their ability to express themselves through different modes of communication. With each masterpiece produced, we decorated the room, showing off all the hard work for our families to see and creating a fantastic atmosphere.

This all led up to the finale when we had a family evening, sharing kai and tasting different specialty dishes from China. They were dishes we must say!

To finish it off, we were so lucky to have a special Lion perfomance, set with drums and all. This was certainly a favourite of the whole two weeks of celebration and our tamariki could not stop talking about it.
