Celebrating Culture and Diversity

At Beststart Te Awamutu we never miss an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate cultural events. In March we had an amazing time celebrated Holi, the Hindu festival of colours! Traditionally, Holi signals the coming of spring in India and commemorates the good harvest and fertile land.  It is the start of new hopes and relationships and is signified by the burst of colours everywhere.  On this festive day, our tamariki from our sprouts and Seedlings explored with colour together, building stronger relationships and colourful memories.

Arriving fresh and white, both Kaiako and tamariki were soon bursting with laughter as colour soared through the air. Pink, purple, blue, yellow and green! Our Kaiako and tamaiki were a rainbow of colours as they decorated each other with handprints and smears of colour.  Screams of joy and laughter echoed throughout the centre as we all had fun celebrating Holi together.

This beautiful event weaves in with our centre philosophy as we embrace all children’s uniqueness and diversity, we acknowledge and provide our tamariki and whānau with experiences from their and others cultures.
