Celebrating Diwali at BestStart Pharazyn Street Kindy.
What a great deal of knowledge and skills parents brought to the centre to share with our tamariki (children). One of the Indian families Nancy had planned the day of celebration with us at the centre. She introduced Diwali card and rocket making which the tamariki enjoyed a lot. She did beautiful henna (tattoos) on hands which tamariki had lined up patiently for.
Another new parent Prabjot made roti with our tamariki during her child’s transition visit which was a very popular cooking activity shared by a large group of tamariki. Theylearned to roll and pat the dough and ate it when it was cooked. Tamariki also learn about this beautiful culture through its language, stories, music and art, such as drawing Rangoli (pattern), dancing to Bollywood music, and making Diya lamp holders.
We have had a great day celebrating Diwali at BestStart Pharazyn Street Kindy.
