Today, our tamariki had a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Korean culture with our teacher, Samjoo.
Samjoo introduced the children to a traditional Korean game called Jegichagi, a fun game where players use their feet to keep a small object called a jegi in the air for as long as possible.
Our tamariki were excited to give it a go, as was Teacher Ruperto. There was lots of laughter, concentration and determination as they practised kicking the jegi and trying to keep it from touching the ground.
Through this experience, the children were developing their balance, coordination, gross motor skills and perseverance, while also learning about a game that is special to Korean culture.
It was beautiful to see Samjoo sharing part of her culture with our children and creating an opportunity for them to experience something new. Experiences like this help our tamariki develop curiosity, respect and appreciation for the many cultures that make up our centre community.
We love creating opportunities where children can learn about different cultures through meaningful, hands-on experiences.
Thank you, Samjoo, for sharing your knowledge, culture and this special game with us. We definitely had so much fun, especially our teachers!
