Celebrating Matariki 2022

We had a great time exploring the Maori New Year. We sent out an invite to all our Whanau, inviting them to come and have a shared kai with us.

Our children donated vegetables for a Koha to go towards making soup. The children took part in the preparation of this by peeling and chopping the vegetables. Outside in the sandpit, we had been talking about fire safety and what it means to be safe around Fire.

On the evening of Matariki, we toasted marshmallows and shared stories. This was a lovely time to connect and reconnect. Some families have moved on, and new families have come in, so this was a wonderful opportunity for people to meet and greet. We had a total of 71 people attend our evening. This was a lovely time to come together as this was the first time we have all been together in our centre in Covid times.
