Here at BestStart Flatbush School Road we celebrate what matters. Our children’s culture and identity matters the most for us here at the Centre.

In February we celebrated Chinese New, Year of the Tiger. Lanterns and decorations were put around the room which our tamariki had made. We set up some painting experience for children to paint and used their lovely painting to create our beautiful decorations of fans and lanterns. We also had a special lunch; we made some yummy dumplings for everyone. Children sang Chinese songs and read stories. Our Chinese children dressed up in their cultural costumes and other children dressed in red as that represents lucky and good fortune.

BestStart Flatbush School Road affirms and celebrates cultural differences, and aims to help children gain a positive awareness of their own and other cultures.
