Celebrating our cultures at BestStart Mangorei Rd
Here at BestStart Mangorei Rd we are proud to celebrate the many cultures within our centre. Each month, we collaborate with our families to learn more about their culture, language and identity, showing them that we care and that they are valued. This gives us the opportunity to authentically celebrate and incorporate a range of cultures in and outside of the centre. So far this year we have been blessed to be able to celebrate; China with Chinese New Year, New Zealand Māori with Waitangi Day, Ireland with Saint Patricks Day and Thailand with Songkran (Thailands New Year).
Exploring and learning about the language and cultural celebrations within the centre affirms the identity of those children who connect to that culture. We understand the importance of children knowing that they are accepted for who they are and having a strong sense of belonging within their centre. Feeling that they belong contributes to their over all well being and gives them mana and confidence to try new experiences.
We are looking forward to the many more cultures that we will continue to know more about and celebrate.
