At BestStart Napier Central, kaiako are present, intentional and prepared in our head, heart and hands to nurture and teach young minds.

Our tamariki feel safe and secure as they come to understand and predict their day. Our rituals throughout the day help support tamariki in slowing down, connecting on a deeper level, promoting a sense of stability, and reducing anxiety.

Tamariki can anticipate their day and are empowered to make choices. Kaiako understand the benefits of hauora and are active role models promoting health and well-being that is worthy of imitation.

Our priorities for learning promote Whakawhanaungatanga / Relationships and are motivated to promote respectful relationships with children, parents, whānau and community.

  • Kaitiakitanga / Caring for Papatūānuku) promotes care, connection and aroha for the natural world

  • Whakaute/respect empower kaiakoto work in respectful ways which uphold the mana of each child and allows them to be active participants in our centre life

  • Hauora/Supporting wellness, promoting health that is meaningful through all aspects of our curriculum

Creating aesthetically pleasing spaces is highly valued among our team. This is done with intention and thought, empowering tamariki to explore with a sense of awe and wonder

We breathe and live our centre priorities and mokopuna unfold in their own time at an unhurried pace.
