At First Steps Everglade Preschool, collaborating with our community, we celebrated Pink Shirt Day, It is crucial to develop our tamariki (children) knowledge and understanding about respecting each others culture and promoting diversity and creating an  environments where  everyone can feel safe, valued and respected.  Our aim is to work collaboratively with organisations in the community  and join the movement to make a stand against bullying. We encourage our tamariki to practice kindness in the centre engaged in tuakana teina relationship.  This connects well with our centre philosophy of valuing our tamariki as individuals  and providing them with a sense of belonging and respect for who they are as well as demonstrating manakitanga (reciprocal care).
