We had an absolutely wonderful Wednesday at the centre as we came together to celebrate Heritage Day!
It was a fun-filled day bursting with colour, culture, delicious food, and community spirit.
In South Africa, Heritage Day is celebrated each year on 24 September as a way to recognise and honour the country’s rich cultural diversity. It’s a day for all South Africans to come together, share their traditions, and celebrate the many languages, foods, and customs that make the nation so unique. Whether through music, dance, clothing, or a traditional braai, the day reminds us of the importance of unity and pride in our shared heritage.
A huge thank-you to our amazing team for organising a special Braai lunch for everyone — what a treat! We were also lucky enough to have a special guest join us at the centre to cook up the most yummy burgers for all the children on the braai.
The kids loved them — and so did the teachers! And just when we thought the day couldn’t get any sweeter, afternoon tea brought a beautiful surprise: layered jelly in the colours of the South African flag! So clever, so colourful, and absolutely delicious — the perfect way to finish off a lovely day.
The teachers were also spoiled with a few extra tasty treats, which were very much appreciated. A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who helped prepare and contribute to the day — your time, effort, and generosity made it extra special.
The dress-ups were another big highlight! We saw a vibrant mix of rugby shirts, princess dresses, little builders, Irish cowboys, football fans, and so much more. Everyone embraced the spirit of the day, showing off their unique backgrounds and the things that make them proud.
Events like this remind us how special our centre is — a place where we celebrate each other, share our cultures, families, and experiences, and learn about the world in fun, meaningful ways.
