In the Nursery at BestStart Silverstream, whānau and those that love the children are especially important to us. Being able to have regular events and inviting whanau and people from our local community to build connections, is a focus for us. Learning through opportunities for links to home and community, (people, places and things) develops a strong sense of belonging for the children.

We had the most wonderful afternoon in the sun. Mother Nature gave us the best first day of Spring ever. Not a cloud in the sky, and only a whisper of a breeze. We came together at the table. We sang our karakia and a few of our other favourite songs.

Then we had our special afternoon kai. We shared stories, and were able to connect with our childrens whānau more. Outside we played feed the frog , fishing , bubbles and music, kicking balls and running and climbing. It was exciting to see our Nursery whānau all happy, smiling and giggling. Inside all the tamariki excitedly used fly swats to move the balloons.

This was where the real excitement was and the squeals of delight. Such a wonderful success! We are looking forward to our next event.
