Chia seed crackers
Looking for a healthy cracker?
These are nutty, salty, loaded with healthy fats and fibre and best of all, crunchy!
Ingredients:
- ½ cup Pumpkin seeds
- ½ cup Sunflower seeds
- ¼ cup Sesame seeds
- ¼ cup Chia seeds
- Pinch Salt
- 1 cup water
Method
- Place pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and sesame seeds in a food processor and blend until they resemble coarse breadcrumbsPlace in a bowl with chia seeds, salt and water and mix
- Leave covered for approximately 30 minutes
- Heat oven to 160°C
- Spread mixture out on a greased oven tray to approximately 5mm thick
- Score with a knife to make breaking the crackers easier and more uniform or leave unscored if you like uneven crackers
- Bake for approximately 1 ½ hours or until crisp and golden brown
- Remove from oven and allow to cool on the tray
- Break apart and store in an airtight container
These crackers go well with a delicious dip. Try this Guacamole that can be whipped up in minutes and tastes great too.
Ingredients:
- 2 ripe avocados
- ¼ cup lemon/lime juice
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh chilli (optional)
- 1⁄3 cup chopped fresh coriander (optional)pinch salt
Method
- Scoop out the avocado flesh and place in a bowl
- Mash with a fork until you reach the consistency you like
- Mix through the remaining ingredients
- Refrigerate in an airtight container until ready to serve
