The world of dinosaurs have played a large part in our days here in the Whanake Room, with the children being in awe of the prehistoric beasts. The knowledge that has come from home (with the children) has been amazing, with staff learning both from children and literature about dinosaurs. Ako has played a huge role as the children have become the teachers in this instant, creating an environment that has had children reveling in all things dinosaur.

With a large number of children transitioning both from the Kakano Room and also into the Rakau room, we are focusing on whanaungatanga within the Whanake Room. This focus has seen new relationships formed, tamariki adopting a Tuakana Teina approach, and a more settled environment as new relationships are formed.

Tamariki are also really enjoying art in all shapes and forms, with plenty of different mediums used in this exploration. Mat time is also a hit at the moment, with the tamariki requesting A Dark Dark Tale on a daily basis.
