Chinese New Year (恭喜发财)
Here at Murphys Park, every child’s culture and identity is prominent for us and we take pride in celebrating their special occasions and festivals. Our tamariki take joy in learning about and celebrating our world. For the past three weeks we have been celebrating the Chinese New year, the year of the tiger.
Our enthusiastic children enjoyed playing together both indoor and outdoor play areas. In the morning, Kaiako Ally prepared an activity for children, we made colorful lanterns that were hung outside in our hallway and kaiako Shan made a template of Chinese cultural costumes with the children's faces.
Recognizing and celebrating special events is an important part of a child's life and contributes to their sense of belonging. We love to learn about our friends from all around the world.
