Every Year we celebrate Chinese New Year and as part of celebrating this event we invite our Grandparents to come in to make dumplings with us and this year was no different.

First they made the dough and gave our tamariki a piece of dough each. They rolled it into a ball and rolled it out to make it bigger. Once the piece of dough was rolled out just right, the tamariki got some of the mince on one side of the dough, then folded it over and pressed down the sides to keep the mince inside.

Once they were all completed, they were cooked just before our Chinese New Year celebration. Our tamariki did a great job in making the dumplings for all the whanau that came to our Chinese New Year celebration, they were delicious!.

During this process our tamariki are developing their social, listening and communication skills. We really love it when whanau can come into the centre and share their culture with our tamaiki as it enriches their experiences and so much comes from Grandparents sharing with their Grandchildren, it is always welcomed and highly valued.
