Collaborating with our families
The team at BestStart Kaiwharawhara are continuing to maintain our collaborative relationships with whanau during lockdown. It has been great to see teachers sharing videos of what they have been doing with their families along with families sharing videos and photos of what they have been doing too – these provide us opportunities to learn off each other. We are having weekly virtual mat times where we have been able to share books and songs together with children able to make decisions around the songs we sing. Teachers are regularly checking in with families to offer additional support during this time recognising how difficult this time can be for some of our whanau especially those trying to balance work and looking after their children. Collaboration is still alive at BestStart Kaiwharawhara even if we cannot see each other face to face. BestStart@Home.
