Commemorating the Christchurch earthquake
At Montessori Johnsonville we commemorated 10 years since the Christchurch with our own earthquake drill. Our current children are too young to know the impact this had on the city and in fact New Zealand, but our teachers remember it. We had children at our centre that had escaped from the city that we still keep in contact with. As our philosophy says, we are a Caring Community so at 2.51pm, an hour after the devastation 10 years prior, we had our own drill.
