At Doncaster Kindy numeracy and literacy are constantly integrated into our play.  It takes on many forms and is naturally connected to the different stages of development for individual children.

We see children painting, drawing and writing to their families. Our boys enjoyed creating sets and patterns with their animal farm. The children boxing the ball worked hard counting out 1,2,3,4 as they coordinated their hits.

We love reading, discussing stories and building on children’s knowledge of their world.  We encourage children to teach us their language through books, songs and play.  Nature often plays a part, counting tomatoes or discussing the speed of snails.

Connecting learning to play is what we love to do, constantly supporting children to extend their ideas and build on their skills. Supporting them to be proud of who they are.
