Cook Island Day Celebration
In celebration of Cook Island Language week, we invited parents into the centre and also got the children to dress up. The teachers bought in their skirts and joined in the event with children by organising lovely cultural activities for the children. The children learnt a about the Cook Island culture and their cultural dressing.
The children participated in making an ‘ei katu which is a flower garland worn around the head, also known as flower crown or head garland.
The children loved this experience and great opportunity for children to learn more about the culture. We also played some Cook Island music, did some dancing and celebrated the culture with the children with some story telling.
