To celebrate national day of the cowboy/cowgirl we had a dress up day in the PÄ«wakawaka room! Everybody dressed up in theme and we had a range of different activities on offer during the week.

The tamariki had fun sitting on the rocking horse and the saddle that were set up.

We explored some arts and crafts by experimenting with some cow print painting with sponges and some cactus painting with paint scrapers to stick up on the walls.

Then we read some books (pukapuka) about some of our favourite farm animals including horses and cows! We also had some new books (pukapuka) that we put out about tractors and farming for tamariki to explore.

We also got out all our farm animals and set them up in their different environments. On our big tuff tray we had the pigs in the mud pit, the ducks in the pond and the cows in the paddock and in the high tuff tray we the horses with green salt to look like grass with some real horse shoes.
