This morning the tamariki have been so busy in the mud pit. Together we dug out a pathway and then we added some water to make a river. The children then thought to get some boats and other toys for the river. They went to the sandpit and chose what they needed. The children were having some amazing conversations about the things they were doing and seeing while in the mud pit exploring the river.

The children used their imagination to play in the river. They also showed determination as it took a while to dig out the river. The children were so engaged and stayed in the mud pit for a long time. This experience reflects our centre philosophy of allowing kids to be kids.

Our mud pit is one of our amazing places our children use to extend on their learning in many different ways, we love how they collaboratively work together to create this amazing river.
