Here at Best-Start Roydvale in our kakano room (0-2years) our tamariki have been busy extending their creativity through different forms of arts and crafts. We love to provide a variety of experiences for tamariki to explore their creativity and imagination, giving them opportunities to express themselves using different mediums such as paint, pencils, chalk and crayons.

We believe that arts and craft are about the process rather than the end result. Tamariki are encouraged to be creative and expressive in their own ways as they explore the medium and learn as they make discoveries alongside their peers. Painting and drawing are wonderful moments where the Kaiako are able to discuss with the children the different colours they are using while also mixing the paint together to create new shades. Discussing early science concepts of cause and effect and how adding two different colours can create a whole new one.
