At BestStart Botany Junction we value and nurture every child's cultural and diversity. Last week we celebrated Samoan Language week with our tamariki. Parents were invited to come and share their cultural knowledge, language, food. So as you stepped into the cerntre Talofa was the very first word that you would hear from everyone, which means hello and at the end of the day, you could hear us saying Tofa which means goodbye.

Our children were very excited about learning and speaking Samoan. Parents were encouraged to respond to their children's learning by using the newly learnt words and language. Preschool teachers and tamariki had been working on creating some Samoan designs into their artwork. There is never ending music and songs like Savalivali that had been sung all throughout the day. Pre-schoolers had working hard on their Samoan designed bookmark. Our toddlers enjoying developing their teina-tuakana relationship, more on free play and never-ending exploration.

Parents contributed by spoiling us with yummy Samoan food like the panipopo bun, co-co-rice and lots of cupcakes with Samoan phrases on them. Our lovely cook and Admin prepared a beautiful Samoan meal for lunch the new taste of Chop suey and rice was something that our children enjoyed. Looks like this dish is going to be a permanent addition to on our lunch menu. Samoan songs and dance filled the atmosphere.
