During the month of June, our tamariki engaged in a variety of learning experiences centred around exploring the fascinating world beneath the ocean. They demonstrated great curiosity and enthusiasm as they discovered the different ocean zones and learned about the unique sea creatures that inhabit each one.

Through discussions, hands-on activities, investigations, and creative learning opportunities, tamariki deepened their understanding of marine life while developing their inquiry, observation, and research skills. These experiences also fostered a greater appreciation for the wonders of the ocean and the importance of caring for our natural environment.

As part of our learning about nature and science, tamariki also explored volcanoes and volcanic eruptions. They learned about what causes volcanoes to erupt and discussed the changes that occur during an eruption. This sparked many thoughtful conversations and encouraged tamariki to investigate natural phenomena through observation, questioning, and experimentation.

In addition, tamariki explored the human body, learning about different body parts and the five senses. This topic generated a great deal of interest and curiosity as they developed a deeper understanding of how their bodies work and the important role their senses play in everyday life.

Through these rich learning experiences, tamariki strengthened their knowledge of the natural world, developed their scientific thinking and inquiry skills, and built a deeper understanding of personal wellbeing and body awareness.
